RWYB Round-Up #1
Here’s a new series where I collect a lot of my favorite bicycle things I’ve seen around the web.
First up, this is about as Run What Ya Brung as it gets.
Via Ronnie Romance’s blog, this is one heck of a way to keep some handlebars running in your fleet eh?
Next up, while I haven’t posted much about this topic yet, I am very into sinking way too much time, effort, and money into 1990’s 26” mountain bikes and even 700c hybrids before hybrids got corny. For example, Tommy’s 1994 Specialized Rockhopper via Bikepacking.
Welded on 1-1/8” cups to run a modern threadless fork? ✔️ IS disc mounts welded on? ✔️ Basket? ✔️ Fenders? ✔️ What a bike.
Moving right along, check out this Trek Sawyer on The Radavist.
The Sawyer has always caught my eye, and I’ve been told it’s part of the ancestral DNA of Stooge. I’ve heard mixed reports of its handling and riding characteristics, but there’s no doubt that this is a looker. I dig the rear shifter on the left so that you can grab rear brake at the same time (for us non-Moto people).
Last but not least, Newbaum’s Confetti Bosco bars from Rivendell.
The vibe might not be for everyone, but it’s a pretty slick use of leftover Newbaum’s scraps innit?
‘Til next time!
